Patna: Fifty-one households belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in Saradog village of Bihar’s Kaimur district will receive electricity through solar power under a corporate social responsibility initiative, following an agreement signed on Thursday.
Bharat Rail Bijli Company Limited (BRBCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) signed a memorandum of understanding at Vidyut Bhavan in Patna to implement the project, which will see solar panels installed at the homes of the beneficiary families.
The project, to be fully funded by BRBCL through its CSR allocation, is aimed at expanding access to clean and sustainable energy in remote and tribal areas. Officials from both organisations attended the signing, including BRBCL’s director (project) D K Singh and chief executive D R Dehuri, along with SBPDCL’s chief engineer (project–1, rural) Jai Shankar Sahni.
The initiative is expected to provide reliable electricity to the village’s PVTG families while reducing dependence on conventional power sources, aligning with broader efforts to promote renewable energy in rural Bihar.
