Gaya: A new inter-state bus terminal will be developed at the Gaya bus stand on 4.95 acres of land, following an inspection by Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal. During the visit, he directed the demolition of the dilapidated divisional building of the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) and proposed the construction of a new terminal. The terminal will feature vehicle parking, passenger facilities, and administrative offices on the first and second floors.
Steps will also be taken to improve passenger convenience, including arrangements for clean drinking water and addressing waterlogging issues within the premises. Agarwal stressed the importance of identifying key inter-state routes, particularly given Gaya’s role as a religious and tourism hub. Agreements with transport corporations from other states will be made to enhance connectivity to important destinations.
The Transport Secretary also instructed the scrapping of old, unserviceable vehicles in the BSRTC premises. Fifteen dilapidated buses have been identified for scrapping, and these will be auctioned off. The area will be cleared and used for improved operations.
Additionally, under the PM-e Bus Seva Yojana, fifty new e-buses will be introduced in Gaya. Infrastructure and charging stations will be developed, with route selections underway to ensure better local transportation services. Agarwal asked the concerned officials to ensure that all plans are implemented smoothly, in coordination with Assistant District Transport Officer Baby Kumari and Assistant Regional Manager Operations, Gaya.
