Bihar: A blistering heatwave has swept across Bihar, with temperatures breaching the 40C mark in at least 12 locations on Sunday, according to the state’s meteorological department. Buxar was the hottest spot, recording a maximum temperature of 42.8C. Gopalganj followed closely at 41.7C, while Dehri registered 41.5C. Other affected areas included Bhojpur (40.8C), Patna (40.7C), Gaya and Aurangabad (40.6C each), Motihari (40.5C), Valmiki Nagar, Saran and Darbhanga (40.4C each), and Ziradei (40.1C).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the intense heat is expected to persist over the coming days, with little relief in sight. Officials have urged the public to take precautions against the extreme weather. “People are advised to avoid heat exposure, stay cool and remain well hydrated,” said a senior official from the Bihar Disaster Management Department.
