Patna: Three people have died and four others were injured after a car collided with a motorcycle and plunged into a ravine in Bihar’s Banka district on Saturday morning, police said.
The accident took place near Jilebiya Morh on the Tarapur–Deoghar main road, along the Kanwariya Path, when a car carrying pilgrims collided head-on with an oncoming motorcycle.
According to officials, the car occupants were returning after taking a dip in the Ganga at Ajgaivinath Dham in Bhagalpur district and were travelling towards Deoghar for worship when the crash occurred.
The impact of the collision killed all three motorcycle riders at the scene. They have been identified as Rupesh Kumar Sah, 28, Surendra Sah, 46, and Baleshwar Sah, 59, all residents of Banarjhop village in the Fullidumar police station area.
Following the crash, the car veered off the road and fell nearly 50 feet into a forested ravine. Four occupants of the vehicle — Pushpa Kumari, Priya Kumari, Praveen Kumar Gupta and Khushboo Kumari — were injured, with two reported to be in critical condition.
Police said the injured, who are from Jharkhand’s Garhwa district, were taken for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased have been sent to Banka Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination. An investigation into the incident is under way.
