Patna: District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajeev Mishra, accompanied by senior officials, undertook a thorough inspection of Chhath Ghats at Patna on the second day of Chhath Puja on Saturday. The meticulous scrutiny encompassed foot inspections of ghats in Danapur and Digha, supplemented by motorboat observations of preparations and crowd management at Nakata Diara and other Chhath Ghats.
Emphasizing the comprehensive administrative arrangements for Chhath Vratis and devotees, DM Singh and SSP Mishra assured the availability of every essential facility at the ghats. Strict directives were issued to magistrates and police officers to remain vigilant, ensuring effective crowd management, law and order maintenance, and traffic control with a firm yet courteous approach.
The control room at all ghats is operational, overseeing lighting, clean drinking water, gender-segregated toilets, changing rooms, and shelters for devotees. Barricading adheres to safety standards, enhanced by watchtowers and marked hazardous areas. Magistrates and police officials are strategically stationed at precarious ghats to deter people from venturing there.
Parking arrangements have been optimized for proximity to the ghats, and a dedicated traffic management plan is in place. The approach path is well-lit, smooth, and obstacle-free, complemented by continuous announcements through loudspeakers. In the spirit of Chhath, guidance on dos and don’ts is regularly communicated. SDRF and NDRF teams are positioned in the river and ghats, while CCTV cameras and drones monitor routes, ghats, and riverfront to ensure a seamless experience for Chhath Vratis and devotees.
DM Singh and SSP Mishra extended specific instructions to sub-divisional officers and police officers to maintain heightened alertness in their respective areas throughout the Chhath festival.
