Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inaugurated the Bihar State Police Conference 2026 at the Bihar Police Auditorium in Sardar Patel Bhavan, Patna, lighting the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the event.
During the programme, Kumar also launched the Prohibition and State Excise Control Bureau and a separate Cyber Crime and Security Unit, signalling a renewed focus on tackling substance abuse and technology-driven offences.
Addressing senior police officials, the chief minister stated that the police play a crucial role in maintaining law and order in society. “There is the rule of law in Bihar,” he said, adding that he expected all police officers to work with honesty, alertness and strictness to ensure effective crime control.
The Additional Director General of Police (Modernisation), Sudhanshu Kumar, welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a memento and a sapling. A short film highlighting the work and achievements of the Bihar Police was also screened at the event.
Before the conference, Kumar visited the “Jeevika Didi’s Rasoi” facility located within the Sardar Patel Bhavan complex, where he inspected the arrangements and sought details about its operations.
The conference was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary, the chief minister’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar, chief secretary Pratyay Amrit, director general of police Vinay Kumar, additional chief secretary (home) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, and several other senior officials, including additional directors general of police, inspectors general, deputy inspectors general and superintendents of police.
Officials said the conference would focus on strengthening policing standards, improving coordination, and addressing emerging challenges such as cybercrime, drug control and internal security, as Bihar looks to reinforce its commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.
