Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inaugurated the elevated and at-grade road section between Bhupatipur and Punpun (NH-22), built at a cost of Rs 1,105 crore under the Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun project.
The new stretch, which connects to the Sipara-Mahuli elevated road, will reduce travel time between Sipara and Mahuli to just five to six minutes. Officials say it will significantly ease traffic in Patna and improve connectivity to districts such as Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurangabad and Rajgir.
During the inspection, Nitish Kumar met with local residents in Punpun, who thanked him for the development. “I have a long association with this area and will continue working for its progress,” he said. On return, the Chief Minister reviewed ongoing work on the Sipara segment and instructed officials to complete it within two months.
Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, ministers and senior officials joined the event, which signals a major step toward decongesting Patna and enhancing infrastructure across South Bihar.
