Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Takht Sri Harimandir, Patna Sahib to mark the occasion of Prakash Parv, the celebration of Guru Gobind Singh’s birth anniversary.
The CM offered prayers at the Gurudwara, paying homage in the Guru’s court and bowing his head in reverence. He also meet with the sevadars (volunteers) at the site. In a gesture of respect, the Gurudwara’s management committee presented Kumar with a traditional shawl, a head covering (siropa), and a ceremonial sword.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha, Kumar extended his greetings to the Sikh community, highlighting the historical significance of Patna Sahib. “This city is blessed as the birthplace of Guru Maharaj,” he said. “Guru Gobind Singh gave everything, including his sons, to protect the integrity of both Sikhism and Hinduism.”
Kumar also paid tribute to the life of Guru Gobind Singh, describing it as a testament to sacrifice and devotion. “The sacrifices made for the country are etched in history in golden letters,” he added.
The ongoing celebrations, which began on January 4, mark the 358th Prakash Parv, celebrating the birth of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. The event has seen thousands of devotees from across India and abroad gathering at Patna City Gurudwara.
The celebrations have included bhajan kirtan (devotional singing), processions, a religious procession (shobha yatra), and darshan (viewing) of the Guru Granth Sahib. The program will conclude on Tuesday, January 7.
