Patna: Chief Minister chaired a review meeting of the Health Department at the Sankalp Sabhagar within the Public Servant Residence complex in Patna, and issued a series of directions aimed at strengthening Bihar’s healthcare infrastructure and service delivery.
PPP Model for Medical Colleges
During the review, the Chief Minister stated that medical colleges in the state will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, including both Greenfield and Brownfield projects.
He said the approach is aimed at expanding new institutions as well as upgrading existing facilities to improve access to medical education and healthcare services across Bihar.
Focus on Local Treatment and Referral System
The Chief Minister emphasised that patients should receive quality treatment at the district and sub-divisional level hospitals itself.
He directed that unnecessary referrals to higher centres must be reduced significantly and instructed that a structured system be implemented across all District and Sub-divisional hospitals by August 15.
District Magistrates have been assigned the responsibility of monitoring compliance with this directive.
Review of Ongoing Projects and Infrastructure
Health Department Secretary Kumar Ravi presented a detailed update on ongoing activities, including organisational structure, service delivery mechanisms, and the status of medical colleges and hospitals under construction.
He also outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.
The Chief Minister further directed that construction work on all ongoing medical colleges and hospitals be expedited to ensure timely completion.

The Chief Minister said the state government remains committed to providing accessible, transparent, and modern healthcare services.
He added that healthcare infrastructure in rural areas has improved significantly and reiterated the government’s focus on ensuring advanced medical education and treatment facilities within the state.
