Nalanda: Agrima Nayak, a 33-year-old researcher from Kerala, is capturing nationwide attention with her unique initiative to promote mental health and yoga. Currently on an ambitious cycling expedition across India, she has already covered nearly 8,000 km since beginning her journey in 2022.
Nayak, who works at the Sri Chitra Research Centre, set out from Kerala to Ladakh and is now continuing her journey for another six to eight months. She has travelled through almost the entire country, except for Uttar Pradesh and the Northeast, and is now in Nalanda, visiting historic sites such as Pawapuri, Rajgir, and the ruins of Nalanda University. Along the way, she engages with local communities, advocating for mental well-being and the benefits of yoga.
Reflecting on the challenges of her expedition, Nayak said, “Every day is a new test. From extreme weather conditions to searching for accommodation, the journey is tough, but my resolve remains unshaken. The support from my family and well-wishers across India keeps me going.”
She believes the significance of mental health and yoga has never been greater in today’s fast-paced world. Her mission has not only raised awareness but also become a powerful example of women’s empowerment, inspiring thousands—especially young women—to pursue their goals with courage and determination.
After completing her Kerala-to-Ladakh journey, Nayak is now embarking on her next leg, cycling from Kerala to Nepal. Wherever she goes, she visits cultural and historical landmarks, reinforcing the idea that yoga and mental well-being are deeply rooted in India’s ancient heritage.
