Darbhanga: Residents of Darbhanga and the wider Mithila region will soon have a direct air connection to Bengaluru, with Akasa Air set to begin daily flights between the two cities from April 5.
The service will operate with a 180-seater aircraft and will run seven days a week, marking the first direct flight connecting Darbhanga with Bengaluru. Bookings have opened for the route under flight numbers QP 1513 and QP 1514.
According to the schedule, flight QP 1513 will depart Bengaluru at 9:40am and arrive in Darbhanga at 12:15pm. The return flight, QP 1514, will leave Darbhanga at 12:50pm and reach Bengaluru at 5:30pm.
Introductory fares for the inaugural day on April 5 are listed at Rs 7,993 for travel in both directions.
With the addition of this route, Akasa Air will operate its third service from Darbhanga airport. At present, the airport connects passengers to several major cities across India, including three daily flights to Delhi, two to Mumbai, and one each to Hyderabad and Kolkata.
The new service is expected to strengthen connectivity between north Bihar and Bengaluru, a major destination for students and professionals from the region.
Darbhanga airport itself has a long aviation history. The Maharaja of Darbhanga reportedly brought the first aircraft to the area in 1930, and passenger services were introduced in 1950. Authorities have also indicated plans to upgrade the facility into an international airport in the future.
