Darbhanga: As part of the ongoing special intensive revision campaign for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, three Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in Darbhanga district were honoured for their exemplary service in updating the electoral rolls.
In a recent review meeting, Dilip Kumar (Booth No. 71, Gaudabauram Assembly), Arvind Kumar Paswan (Booth No. 6, Bahadurpur Assembly), and Hareram Safi (Booth No. 273, Benipur Assembly) were recognized for their outstanding efforts. Dilip Kumar successfully uploaded immunization forms for 510 out of 1,440 voters, Arvind Paswan uploaded 300 forms out of 819 voters, and Hareram Safi completed 250 uploads out of 928 voters at their respective booths.
Speaking at the event, Sub-Election Officer Suresh Kumar said the revision campaign is being conducted across all ten assembly constituencies in the district with a sense of urgency. “The primary aim is to rectify errors in the voter list and ensure no eligible voter is left out while also preventing duplicate entries,” he said.
Suresh Kumar pointed out that many voters have been found registered at multiple locations due to migration for work. “Names found at more than one place will be retained only at one location,” he clarified. Additionally, errors in names—especially of voters’ fathers or husbands—are also being corrected to prevent confusion during form submissions.
1.44 Lakh Voter Forms Uploaded So Far
The district administration has targeted verification and data collection for over 30 lakh (30,03,167) voters. So far, BLOs have uploaded forms for 1,44,208 voters within just 11 days of the campaign. BLOs are conducting door-to-door surveys, distributing and collecting the forms along with mandatory declaration documents.
However, some technical issues have surfaced during the campaign. For instance, at Booth No. 234 in Bahadurpur, multiple female voters — including Vinda Devi, Sarita Devi, Rinku Devi, and Kunba Devi — reported discrepancies in the recorded names of their husbands, all listed incorrectly as Nathuni Mandal. Such errors have caused confusion and delays in completing the revision process.
Document Guidelines and Key Dates
The voter revision campaign includes simplified documentation for those already registered in the 2003 electoral roll (with January 1 as the eligibility date). They only need to confirm their entries through the counting form without submitting additional documents. If the father or mother’s name is present in the 2003 list, their children are also eligible for registration without further documentation.
Accepted documents for new or updated registrations include:
- Government or PSU identity cards
- Pension Payment Orders
- Any government document issued before July 1, 1987
- Birth certificates, passports, matriculation certificates
- Permanent residence or caste certificates
- Forest rights or land/housing allotment certificates
- National Register of Citizens or family registers
The door-to-door verification campaign runs from June 25 to July 26, 2025. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 1, with claims and objections accepted until September 1. The final voter list will be released on September 30, 2025.
The district administration has urged all voters to cooperate with BLOs and ensure accurate details are submitted, enabling a transparent and inclusive electoral process.
