New Delhi: Delhi court has summoned former Union Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, along with his sons Tejaswi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, in connection with the land-for-job scam. The Rouse Avenue court directed them to appear before it on October 7.
Judge Vishal Gogne, while issuing the order, noted that Lalu Prasad Yadav was in a position of authority to influence public employment when he held the post of Railway Minister. The court observed that there was sufficient evidence indicating the use of illicit funds in the case.
Though Tej Pratap Yadav has not been formally charged yet, the court indicated that his involvement could not be ruled out, prompting his summons alongside his father and brother.
The case revolves around allegations that appointments in the Railways were made in exchange for land transferred to Lalu Prasad’s family during his tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. According to the Central Bureau of Investigation, these appointments violated established standards and guidelines for recruitment.
Earlier this year, Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and their daughter Misa Bharti were granted bail in the same case.
