Delhi-to-Saharsa Vaishali Express Catches Fire; 19 Injured Passengers Admitted to Hospital

Etawah (Uttar Pradesh), 16th November 2023: A fire broke out in the bathroom of the S-6 coach of the 12554 Vaishali Express traveling from Delhi to Saharsa near Etawah on the Delhi-Howrah railway route, causing chaos. Nineteen passengers have been admitted to the district hospital for burn injuries and smoke-related problems. The incident occurred around 3 am on Thursday.

The fire was reportedly caused by a passenger throwing a burning beedi or cigarette, although no official statement has been released. The fire brigade promptly extinguished the flames.

SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma stated that some passengers experienced difficulty breathing and were subsequently admitted to the hospital. The train was cleared from the spot after an hour, making a stop at Etawah station and resuming its journey at around 6:15.

– Achhe Lal, son of Ratan Lal Mahato, resident of Kitma, Gopalganj
– Vivek, son of Gautam Giri, resident of Badaria, Siwan

Yesterday, another train from Delhi to Darbhanga had also caught fire near Etawah.
