Demand for CBI Inquiry in Patna University Student’s Murder Case Intensifies

Third Arrest Made in Patna University Student's Murder Case

Patna: Senior BJP leader and former minister Suresh Sharma submitted a memorandum to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Sunday, calling for a CBI investigation into the murder of Patna University student Harsh Raj.

In his memorandum, Sharma condemned the brutal incident, describing it as deeply shameful and concerning. He expressed outrage over the killing of a student, who was beaten with sticks and rods within the prestigious institution.

Sharma suggested a conspiracy behind Harsh Raj’s murder, noting the victim’s popularity among students and his involvement in social service alongside his studies. Harsh Raj had been preparing for the upcoming student union elections and was a strong contender, leading Sharma to suspect election rivalry as a motive.

The BJP leader urged the Governor to ensure that the perpetrators face swift justice, advocating for the murderers to be hanged following a speedy trial to prevent future incidents. Sharma was accompanied by former ministers Mahachandra Singh and PN Singh Azad, among others, during the submission of the memorandum.

Harsh Raj, a 22-year-old final-year graduate student, was murdered on the Patna Law College campus. Nineteen-year-old Chandan Yadav, also known as Aditya Raj, is accused of leading the attack with a group of accomplices. Police have arrested Yadav and are continuing their investigation into the case.
