Patna:  Passengers travelling between Baidyanath Dham (Deoghar) and Jamalpur will no longer have to change trains from July 21, after Eastern Railway introduced a new rake-linking arrangement for three MEMU passenger services. According to railway officials, the change is expected to make journeys quicker and more convenient while improving the punctuality of trains operating on the Jasidih–Jhajha–Kiul route.

The Public Relations Officer of the Asansol Railway Division confirmed that the notification for the new arrangement has been issued and said detailed operational information would be released separately.

What Has Changed

Under the new system, three existing MEMU passenger trains will operate using a single integrated rake, enabling through travel between Deoghar and Jamalpur without requiring passengers to change trains at intermediate stations.

According to Eastern Railway, the linked services include:

Train No. 63156 – Baidyanath Dham–Jasidih MEMU
Train No. 63573 – Jasidih–Kiul MEMU
Train No. 63424 – Kiul–Jamalpur MEMU

Although the train numbers remain unchanged, passengers will be able to continue their journey on the same rake, removing the need to disembark and board another train during the trip.

Why It Matters for Daily Commuters

The new arrangement is expected to benefit thousands of passengers who travel regularly between Deoghar, Jasidih, Jhajha, Simultala, Gidhaur, Telwa Bazar, Jamui, Lakhisarai, Kiul and Jamalpur.

Previously, travellers heading towards Jamalpur and the Munger division often had to wait at Kiul or Jhajha stations to board connecting services. According to railway officials, the rake-linking system is designed to reduce these waiting periods, making journeys more seamless.

The Railways also said the operational change would improve the punctuality of MEMU services by reducing turnaround and crossing times.

Operational Benefits

According to Eastern Railway, the integrated rake arrangement is expected to ease delays affecting the 63574 Kiul–Jasidih MEMU. Officials also said the 63564 Jasidih–Asansol MEMU is likely to operate more punctually once the new system comes into effect.

Railway authorities said using a single rake across multiple services would improve operational efficiency by reducing idle time and simplifying train movements along the route.

MEMU Train Schedule

According to the notified timetable:

Train No. 63573 Jasidih–Kiul MEMU

Departs Jasidih: 10:45 AM
Jhajha: 12:02 PM
Jamui: 12:39 PM
Arrives Kiul: 2:10 PM

Train No. 63424 Kiul–Jamalpur MEMU

Departs Kiul: 2:30 PM
Abhaipur: 3:10 PM
Dharhara: 3:23 PM
Arrives Jamalpur: 4:00 PM

Train No. 63423 Jamalpur–Kiul MEMU

Departs Jamalpur: 12:45 PM
Abhaipur: 1:15 PM
Arrives Kiul: 2:35 PM

According to the Railways, the same rake will then depart Kiul at 2:50 PM as Train No. 63574 Kiul–Jasidih MEMU, completing the linked operational cycle.

The new rake-linking arrangement is scheduled to take effect on July 21. Railway officials said passengers can expect a smoother journey between Deoghar and Jamalpur, while the changes are also intended to improve the reliability and efficiency of MEMU operations across the Jasidih–Jhajha–Kiul corridor.
