Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary urges Union government for greater budgetary support for Bihar
Jaisalmer/ Patna: Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary, has submitted a detailed 32-page memorandum to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, appealing for liberal budgetary allocations in the Union Budget 2025-26. His requests include initiating Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-5.0 to widen and strengthen rural roads and addressing Bihar’s developmental priorities.
During the pre-budget discussions, Choudhary expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for financial support and special economic packages for five road projects, including the Patna-Purnia Expressway. He proposed a 250 km Greenfield Corridor from Birpur to Deoghar to promote religious tourism, connecting Nepal’s Pashupatinath to Vaidyanath Dham in Bihar-Jharkhand. Additionally, he suggested constructing a 270 km high-speed corridor from Ladaniya to Nawada and a 135 km Raxaul-Dighwara corridor to enhance regional connectivity and facilitate goods transport to Nepal.
Choudhary advocated for the establishment of PM Gatishakti Railway University in Jamalpur and provisions for two new railway lines: Bihta-Aurangabad and Sultanganj-Deoghar. He also called for the creation of 10 new Kendriya Vidyalayas to boost educational infrastructure and urged adequate funding for the renovation of Vikramshila University, part of the PM Package 2015.
