Patna: In a sharp political offensive ahead of the elections, the Bihar unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a satirical video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), attacking the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leadership. Titled ‘Gangs of Ghotalaabaz’ — roughly translated as Gangs of Scamsters — the video revives old corruption allegations against Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son Tejashwi Yadav.
The song, accompanied by a montage of archival clips and graphics, directly references the infamous fodder scam involving Lalu Yadav and the alleged land-for-jobs scam linked to Tejashwi Yadav. Lyrics like “Lalu looted all the fodder to fill his house… Teju stole all the land for jobs…” aim to create a narrative of dynastic corruption.
In the video caption, the BJP wrote: “Competition for scams, the family is unmatched. Lalu showed the way through the fodder scam, Tejashwi carries it forward with land scams. What do they have to do with the welfare of the common people?
The video also alludes to the so-called ‘jungle raj’ era in Bihar — a term often used by BJP leaders to describe the RJD’s rule during the 1990s and early 2000s, marked by allegations of widespread lawlessness, extortion, and poor governance.
Political observers view this video as part of the BJP’s broader election strategy to discredit the RJD and its leadership by reigniting public memory of past scandals and governance failures. The RJD has yet to issue a response.
