Devotees Conclude Chhath Festival with Morning Arghya

Patna: The vibrant celebrations of Chhath Mahaparv reached their zenith today as devotees gathered at the ghats in Patna for the final day of the grand festival steeped in folk faith. Since the early hours of the morning, worshippers lined the riverbanks to offer their prayers to the rising sun, marking the culmination of the four-day festivities.

During the sacred ritual of morning Arghya, Chhath devotees reverentially worship Sun God, presenting Daura-Soup filled with an assortment of fruits and prasad as offerings. The spiritual atmosphere was palpable as the devotees engaged in the ritual, signaling their deep devotion to Sun God.

After the completion of morning Arghya and the worship of Sun God, the fasting period came to end. Before breaking their fast, the devotees partook in the consumption of thekua, fruits, and other offerings. This marked the conclusion of a rigorous 36-hour fast, culminating in the Paran ceremony.

The Chhath Mahaparva commenced with Nahay Khay on November 17, followed by Kharna on the November 18. On Sunday, devotees paid their respects to the setting sun through the Sandhya Arghya ritual.

A Patna based priest highlighted the significance of the planetary transits occurring during the Chhath festival. He noted an auspicious combination of Dhanishtha Nakshatra and Dhruva Yoga during the Arghya of the rising Sun, emphasizing the unique celestial alignment during this sacred time.

As the sun sets on this year’s Chhath Mahaparva, the city of Patna reflects the culmination of spiritual devotion and cultural significance, marking yet another successful celebration of this revered festival.
