Disaster Awareness Programs Organized by Bihar State Disaster Management Authority in Patna

Patna: On the occasion of Bihar Diwas 2025, the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) organized various activities at its pavilion to raise public awareness about disaster prevention and safety. People were educated about disaster management through interactive programs, exhibitions, and live demonstrations.
As part of the Chief Minister School Safety Program, students from different schools in Patna learned disaster prevention techniques through puppet shows, street plays, antakshari competitions, and painting sessions. Drone demonstrations showcased disaster prevention methods, while a dog show by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) illustrated search and rescue operations for victims trapped under debris after earthquakes. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR-VR) technology provided an immersive experience to educate visitors on disasters such as heatwaves, fires, and earthquakes.
A special program focused on training differently-abled children in disaster safety. They performed plays on earthquake preparedness, flood management, fire safety, road safety, and lightning protection. Their handmade products were also displayed and sold. Additionally, health checkups, including blood pressure, diabetes, and eye tests, were conducted at the event.
BSDMA collaborated with institutions like IIT-Patna, ISRO, UNDP, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and NDRF to showcase disaster prevention and management initiatives. The impact of earthquakes on buildings was demonstrated using shake table technology, emphasizing the importance of proper construction methods. The SDRF stall provided hands-on demonstrations of rescue equipment and techniques, including borewell rescues, airlifting, and first aid procedures.
Through these efforts, BSDMA aims to enhance disaster preparedness and promote safety awareness across Bihar. The event attracted large participation, with street plays and exhibitions playing a vital role in educating the public about disaster response and management.
