Earthquake of Magnitude 4.0 Jolts Bihar’s Siwan, Tremors Felt in Several Districts

Patna: A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Bihar’s Siwan district on Monday morning, with tremors felt in several northern districts, including Gopalganj and Saran. According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, the earthquake occurred at 8:02 am at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Mild tremors prompted concerns among residents, though no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received. Authorities have urged people to remain alert for possible aftershocks.
The tremor in Bihar followed an earlier 4.0-magnitude earthquake in Delhi-NCR at 5:36 am, which was felt across the national capital and surrounding areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the situation, urging calm and adherence to safety protocols. “Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation,” he posted on social media.
Experts have noted that while both quakes were of moderate intensity, their shallow depths contributed to the perceptible shaking. Officials continue to monitor seismic activity, advising residents to follow standard safety precautions
