Patna: The General Manager of East Central Railway, Chhatrasal Singh, has directed officials to fast-track several major infrastructure projects across Bihar, stressing timely completion and prioritisation of construction work.
At a high-level review meeting held at the railway headquarters in Hajipur on Tuesday, Singh assessed the progress of ongoing developments at Harding Park, the Patliputra Coaching Complex, Karbigahiya Colony and Jagjivan Stadium.
Officials were instructed to begin all critical works under Phase 1 of the Harding Park terminal within 10 days. The initial phase includes track linking, construction of boundary walls, bridge extensions and a signalling and telecommunication building. Singh also asked for the immediate preparation of designs for Phase 2, so that construction can begin as soon as approval is granted.
The Patliputra Coaching Complex, being developed to support the maintenance of Vande Bharat trains, has been targeted for completion by 2027. The General Manager reviewed multiple aspects of the project during the meeting and issued directions to ensure adherence to timelines.
Residential infrastructure also formed a key part of the review. Railway quarters at Karbigahiya, which are being built with modern amenities in Patna, have been scheduled for completion by December 2028.
Separately, Singh was briefed on the railway residential project at Mahendrughat, where soil testing and land demarcation are currently underway. Officials said construction is expected to begin shortly.
The General Manager also directed authorities to expedite the tendering process for the renovation and expansion of Jagjivan Stadium, signalling a push to accelerate associated civic and sporting infrastructure works.
