Patna: The Patna Electricity Supply Unit (PESU) has completed the construction of a new 33 kV underground power line connecting the Gaighat Grid to the under-construction Pahari Sub-station, marking a significant step in strengthening electricity infrastructure in East Patna.
According to PESU officials, the newly laid underground cable will ensure a stable and uninterrupted power supply to three existing sump houses in the Pahari area, along with a proposed new sump house. The project is aimed at improving the reliability of power supply to critical water drainage infrastructure.
Focus on Drainage Infrastructure
The Pahari Sub-station plays a key role in supporting the area’s water drainage system. Officials said a continuous power supply is essential for the efficient functioning of sump houses, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and waterlogging.
The completion of the underground line is expected to enhance power quality and reduce disruptions for infrastructure linked to drainage operations in the region.
Benefits for East Patna Areas
Apart from supporting drainage facilities, the new power line is expected to improve electricity supply in several surrounding localities, including Zero Mile, Bairiya, Setu and Transport Nagar.
PESU said the project will provide additional strength to the distribution network, helping address growing electricity demand in eastern parts of the city.
Pahari Sub-station to Start Operations in July
According to PESU, construction work at the Pahari Sub-station is in its final stages and the facility is scheduled to be commissioned in July.
Once operational, the sub-station will receive power through the newly completed 33 kV underground line. Officials said the arrangement will create a more robust and reliable power distribution system while supporting future infrastructure and urban development needs in the area.
The utility added that the project will not only improve power supply to the water drainage network but also reinforce the overall electricity infrastructure serving East Patna.
