Patna: Eight people survived a violent head-on collision on the Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama four-lane highway on Monday morning, after airbags deployed in both vehicles, while three occupants sustained injuries. The accident caused significant disruption to traffic for several hours.
According to police, Naveen Kumar, a court clerk at Begusarai Civil Court, was returning home with his father after visiting Mahavir Temple in Patna when his car lost control at high speed. The vehicle hit the divider and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with a car driven by Roman Kumar, a medical representative from Tulsipur village, Navgachia police district. Roman Kumar’s wife, father-in-law, son, and driver were also in the vehicle.
The impact caused extensive damage to both cars, but all five occupants of Roman Kumar’s vehicle survived, thanks to the timely deployment of airbags. Naveen Kumar and two other passengers were injured and received first aid; authorities report their condition as stable.
Mokama police responded promptly, clearing the wreckage to restore traffic flow and launching an investigation into the cause of the crash. Officials have urged drivers to adhere to speed limits on the four-lane highway.
