Chhapra: An engineer was shot dead in Chhapra on Tuesday evening, prompting a police investigation that is examining CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
The victim, Vikas Tiwari, 32, son of a retired bank manager and resident of Shakti Nagar in the Mufassil police station area, was returning from Patna, where he had been preparing for competitive examinations after completing his engineering studies.
According to family members, Tiwari was on his way home from Chhapra Kachari station when unidentified assailants shot him near the railway colony. He collapsed at the scene, and although local residents alerted the authorities immediately, doctors declared him dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Multiple police officials, including ASP Ram Pukar Singh, Town Police Station SHO Sanjeev Kumar, and Bhagwan Bazar Police Station SHO Subha Kumar, visited the scene to gather evidence and speak with witnesses. “We have received information about the incident. The deceased’s body is being sent for post-mortem. CCTV footage is being reviewed. Raids will be conducted to apprehend the criminals. The investigation is being conducted from all angles. The case will be solved soon,” said Sanjeev Kumar.
Tiwari’s family suspects the shooting occurred during a robbery attempt. The incident has left the local community in grief and anger. Tiwari, the younger of two brothers, is survived by his elder sibling, who is employed. The family has urged police to take strict action against the culprits.
