Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar on Tuesday launched simultaneous searches at four locations linked to Kamlesh Kumar, General Manager (Technical) of Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Limited, in connection with a disproportionate-assets case.
According to the EOU, a preliminary investigation found evidence that Kumar allegedly acquired assets worth Rs 3 crore 12 lakh 51 thousand more than his known legitimate sources of income. The amount is estimated to be around 103.30% above his known income, the agency said.
Based on the preliminary findings, the EOU registered Case No. 24/26 on September 21, 2026.
Searches Conducted After Court Warrant
Following the registration of the case, the EOU obtained search warrants from the Special Court (Vigilance), Patna.
Separate teams led by officers of the Deputy Superintendent of Police rank were subsequently deployed to conduct searches at the identified locations on the morning of September 22.
The searches are being carried out in Vaishali and Patna, including Kumar’s ancestral residence and properties linked to him.
Four Locations Under Search
The EOU is conducting searches at the following four locations:
- Ancestral residence near Sarvodaya Maidan in Jandaha, Vaishali
- Flat at Manmohan Apartment on Ramkrishna Path in the SK Puri police station area, Patna
- Megha Building on Road No. 25C, Rajiv Nagar, Patna
- Official office chamber of the General Manager (Technical) at Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Limited
The EOU said its teams are examining documents and records related to properties and other assets at all four locations.
Investigation Underway
According to the agency, information related to Kumar’s known income and assets was examined during the verification process. The preliminary evidence of assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income led to the search operation.
The EOU said further details regarding documents or other items recovered during the searches will be available after the operation is completed.
The investigation remains ongoing.
