Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) on Wednesday conducted coordinated raids at six locations linked to Pawan Kumar, Superintending Engineer (Design Circle-1, Patna) and Director (Design Unit, Patna Building Division), in a case involving alleged possession of disproportionate assets.
The action was taken after the agency registered a case and obtained search warrants from the Special Vigilance Court in Patna. Multiple teams were deployed simultaneously across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Case Background
According to the EOU, the case relates to alleged accumulation of assets disproportionate to known sources of income. Officials said preliminary verification indicated financial irregularities, leading to the registration of EOU Police Station Case No. 12/26 under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018).
Alleged Disproportionate Assets
Investigators have estimated that Pawan Kumar allegedly possessed assets worth Rs 3,89,79,000 beyond his known sources of income. This figure is reported to be approximately 103.94% higher than his declared income, according to officials.
Raids Across Six Locations
Search operations were carried out at multiple premises, including Flat No. B-305 at Yamuna Niwas Apartment in North Sri Krishnapuri, Patna, and his office in the Building Construction Department.
Other locations under search include a residential property in Anandgarh Colony, Tilkamanjhi in Bhagalpur; a flat in Sector 75, Noida; another residential unit in Noida; and a flat in Dwarka Sector 10 in New Delhi.
Ongoing Investigation
The EOU stated that multiple teams are continuing searches and that further details regarding recovery and findings will be shared after the completion of operations. Officials said the investigation is at an ongoing stage.
