Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police conducted simultaneous searches at four locations linked to Saharsa District Programme Officer (DPO) Ajit Amar in a disproportionate assets case.
The searches are being carried out under warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Court (North Bihar), Muzaffarpur, according to the EOU.
Four Locations Searched
The premises being searched include Amar’s ancestral home in Raini under Daraunda police station in Siwan district, his rented accommodation at Naya Bazar in Saharsa, his government office chamber in Saharsa and his government residence at Gandak Colony in Chhapra.
The searches are part of an investigation into allegations that Amar accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income.
Rs 62.20 Lakh In Alleged Disproportionate Assets
According to preliminary findings cited in the case, Amar allegedly accumulated assets worth Rs 62,20,550 in excess of his known sources of income.
The alleged disproportionate assets are estimated to be around 72.35% of his known income, according to the investigation.
The EOU is examining documents and other material recovered during the searches as part of the ongoing investigation. Further details are expected after the searches and assessment of the seized material are completed.
