ESIC Regional Director Meets Bihar Labor Resource Minister for Review in Patna
Patna: The newly appointed Regional Director of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Patna, held a courtesy meeting and review session with the Chairman of the ESIC Regional Council, Labor Resource Minister Santosh Kumar Singh, on Friday. During the meeting, the Regional Director presented a detailed overview of ESIC’s current status in Bihar, its expansion plans, and efforts to extend benefits to more insured individuals.
The discussion covered various benefits provided by ESIC, including medical services, maternity benefits, disability benefits, dependent benefits, unemployment allowance, old-age medical care, funeral expenses, and rehabilitation allowances. The Regional Director also provided updates on healthcare services offered through 12 DCBOs, the Model Hospital and Medical College in Bihta, and the Model Hospital in Phulwarisharif. The possibility of establishing new dispensaries and hospitals was also explored to ensure quality and timely healthcare services for insured individuals.
The minister stated that a society formation is under consideration, which would enable the appointment of doctors in dispensaries and branch offices on a priority basis, ensuring smooth and accessible healthcare services for insured workers. He also emphasized the need for inspections of factories and establishments operating in Bihar to register unregistered units and bring more insured individuals under the ESIC scheme. Additionally, he stressed the importance of coordination among various labor-related organizations, including ESIC, EPFO, factories, and other regulatory bodies, to ensure that workers can access benefits more effectively and conveniently.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Mukesh Kumar, Acting State Medical Officer Dr. Jeetu Ranjan, Assistant Director Jayant Kumar, and D.K. Ranjan.
