Motihari: A fake domicile certificate using the photo of Bhojpuri actress Monalisa has created a stir in Bihar’s East Champaran district. The document, submitted at the Kotwa Zone Office, listed the applicant’s name as “Sonalika Tractor”, with the father’s name shown as “Swaraj Tractor” and the mother as “Car Devi”. Officials were stunned when they found the false entry during routine checks.
The fake application was caught by staff at the zone office, who found the names and photo suspicious. They quickly informed senior officers. A probe was launched, and the Circle Officer confirmed the document was fake. The police were informed, and a case was registered at Kotwa police station under charges of cyber fraud and forgery of government records.
District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal said the matter is serious and action will be taken quickly. He promised that anyone found guilty including any government staff or data entry operator will face punishment. The police have started tracking the IP address of the person who submitted the fake form.
This incident comes after another strange case where a dog’s name appeared on official papers. With such repeated frauds, people are raising questions about the poor verification system in Bihar. The district administration has now promised tighter checks to prevent such cases in the future.
