Champaran: A fake Facebook ID has been created in the name of Dharmendra Kumar, the District Magistrate (DM) of West Champaran in Bihar. The fake account has been sending friend requests to people. The district administration has taken this seriously and issued a public warning.
The District Public Relations Office said that this could be the work of cyber criminals trying to fool people. They have requested the public not to accept or respond to any friend request coming from this fake account. The administration also said that strict action will be taken against the person responsible.
After the matter came to light, the district officials informed the Cyber Police Station. Cyber DSP Gautam Sharan Omi said that they have received information about the fake account and have started a proper investigation. A case is being registered, and steps are being taken to block the fake ID.
The district administration has also said that any official communication from the DM will not come through personal Facebook friend requests. People have been asked to stay alert and report any suspicious activity online to the authorities.
