Patna: A statement allegedly made by Bollywood filmmaker Farah Khan regarding Holi festival has ignited protests in Bihar, with Hindu organizations accusing her of insulting the religious celebration and hurting their sentiments. The controversy stems from a comment where Khan reportedly described Holi as a “festival of Chhapris,” a derogatory term.
The Hindu Shiv Bhavani Sena has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Farah Khan at the Kotwali police station in Patna, demanding legal action. National President Luv Kumar Singh, in his police complaint, stated that Khan’s “derogatory remarks” on the “holy festival of Hinduism, Holi,” have deeply offended the Hindu community.
“I, Luv Kumar Singh alias Rudra, National President of Hindu Shiv Bhavani Sena, along with all the office bearers of my organization, am informing that Bollywood filmmaker Farah Khan has made derogatory remarks on the holy festival of Hinduism, Holi.
Farah Khan’s statement has not only hurt our personal sentiments but her statement has also hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindu community. Please take the above matter seriously and take appropriate action against Farah Khan,” Singh wrote in his application to the police.
The controversy arose from an episode of a cooking reality show where Khan serves as a judge. Her comment about Holi drew immediate backlash from social media users, who accused her of disrespecting their religious beliefs. Video clips of her statement circulated online, fueling further outrage.
Social media users heavily criticized Khan, prompting Hindustani Bhau (Vikas Pathak) to also file a complaint against her. The incident has led to calls for a formal apology and legal action against the filmmaker.
