Five Children Buried in Soil Collapse: Two Dead, Three Injured Undergoing Treatment

Muzaffarpur: Muzaffarpur witnessed a tragic incident on Wednesday evening when five children were buried under collapsing soil in the Turki area of the Meenapur police station. The children were playing near a pit when the soil suddenly gave way, trapping them underneath.

Two of the children, identified as 13-year-old Amit Kumar, also known as Chunmun, son of Dinesh Bhagat, and 13-year-old Pritam Kumar, son of Neeraj Bhagat, lost their lives. One of them died instantly, while the other succumbed to injuries during treatment.

The injured include 10-year-old Aditya, son of Sanjay Bhagat; 15-year-old Rakesh Kumar, son of Pramod Kumar; and 6-year-old Satyam Kumar, son of Neeraj Kumar. All three were taken to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), where they are receiving treatment for broken legs and other injuries.

Family members shared that local residents quickly gathered to rescue the children, digging them out from the soil. Initially, they were rushed to the Primary Health Centre, where one was declared dead. The remaining four were then referred to SKMCH for further treatment.

Meenapur police station in-charge Santosh Rajak confirmed that no formal complaint has been filed by the families yet, and further actions will proceed once an application is submitted.
