Four Missing After SUV Plunges Into Ganga From Buxar Bridge

Buxar: A major accident occurred late on Friday night in Bihar’s Buxar district when a Scorpio SUV veered off a bridge and plunged into the Ganga River, leaving four people feared drowned. The vehicle, reportedly en route from Ballia in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, broke through the bridge railing before disappearing into the river’s depths.

According to police, the occupants of the SUV were residents of Dulhapur village in Simri. Preliminary reports suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle while crossing the old Ganga bridge, resulting in the fatal plunge. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Emergency response teams, including divers and administrative personnel with boats, were deployed through the night in an attempt to locate the missing passengers. Nets have been cast into the river to assist in the search, while a crane has been brought in to recover the submerged vehicle.

A large crowd gathered at the scene following news of the incident. Authorities say accurate information about casualties will only be confirmed once the bodies are recovered. The administration has alerted residents in Dulhapur as rescue efforts continue.
