Patna: The water level of the Ganga at Gandhi Ghat remained above the danger mark, with the river recorded at 48.67 metres at 6am, according to the Flood Control Department’s status report.
The level was 7 cm above the danger mark of 48.60 metres. The department reported a receding trend at the location.
At Digha Ghat, the Ganga stood at 49.56 metres, 89 cm below the danger mark of 50.45 metres. The water level there was also showing a receding trend.
Levels Below Danger Mark At Other Points
At Hathidah, the river was recorded at 41.51 metres, 25 cm below the danger mark of 41.76 metres.
The water level at Maner stood at 50.81 metres, compared with a danger mark of 52 metres. In Buxar, the river was at 58.56 metres, below the danger mark of 60.32 metres.
The report said water levels at Gandhi Ghat and Digha Ghat were showing a downward trend.
Son And Punpun Rivers Monitored
The Son River was also below the danger mark at Koilwar, where the water level stood at 52.09 metres against a danger mark of 55.52 metres.
At Indrapuri, the Son was recorded at 102.45 metres, while the level at Palamerganj stood at 93.17 metres. Water levels at both locations were reported to be stable.
The Punpun River at Kinjar was at 64.93 metres, just 7 cm below the danger mark of 65 metres. Unlike several other locations, the water level there was showing a rising trend.
At Shripalpur, the Punpun stood at 49.54 metres, 1.06 metres below the danger mark of 50.60 metres, with the level receding.
Flood Protection Structures Under Watch
According to the Flood Control Department, various sections of the Patna urban protection wall, the protection wall along the Son River, the Danapur distributary embankment, and the embankments of the Devna and Usri drains remained secure.
The department said it was continuing to monitor the condition of these structures and river water levels across the district.
