Muzaffarpur: The Gaurav Yatra of the Asian Champions Trophy (Women’s Category) 2024, set to take place in Rajgir from November 11 to 20, was warmly welcomed in Muzaffarpur by the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police. The event, jointly organized by the Bihar Sports Department, the Bihar State Sports Authority, and Hockey India, saw the trophy being honoured during a ceremony at the Sikandarpur Sports Complex.
During the celebration, the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police proudly lifted the trophy, acknowledging Muzaffarpur’s historical significance in the sports arena. The District Sports Officer, Mithilesh Kumar Singh, presented symbolic gifts, including a small hockey stick and a mascot of the tournament, to officials, including the District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police, SDO Western, and other district-level officers.
The event began with a welcome song performed by local girls, who also presented cultural dances that added charm to the programme. In his speech, the District Magistrate hailed the arrival of the Gaurav Yatra in Muzaffarpur as a historic moment for the district. He highlighted the government’s efforts, under the vision of Bihar’s Chief Minister, to promote sports and develop local talent. He noted that many players from Muzaffarpur have earned national and international recognition, some securing government jobs, and expressed pride in hosting an international-level sports event in Bihar.
The Asian Champions Trophy (Women’s Category) will feature teams from across Asia, with the tournament schedule set as follows: On November 11, Japan will face South Korea at 3:00 pm, followed by China vs Thailand at 5:15 pm, and India vs Malaysia at 7:30 pm. On November 12, Thailand will take on Japan at 3:00 pm, China will play against Malaysia at 5:15 pm, and India will face South Korea at 7:30 pm.
On November 14, South Korea will compete against Malaysia at 3:00 pm, Japan will go up against Thailand at 5:15 pm, and India will play China at 7:30 pm. The matches on November 16 will see Thailand vs Japan at 3:00 pm, China vs Malaysia at 5:15 pm, and India vs South Korea at 7:30 pm. On November 17, Malaysia will face Thailand at 3:00 pm, China will play South Korea at 5:15 pm, and Japan will take on India at 7:30 pm.
The tournament’s final stages will commence on November 19 with the 5th/6th place match at 3:00 pm, followed by the 1st semi-final at 5:15 pm and the 2nd semi-final at 7:30 pm. The final day, November 20, will see the 3rd/4th place match at 5:00 pm, and the tournament will conclude with the final match at 7:30 pm.
