Gaya: The Gaya police have arrested a long-absconding suspected Maoist wanted in connection with a 2007 criminal case registered at Bodhi Bigha police station in Dumaria block of Gaya district.
The accused, identified as Ganesh Yadav alias Vimal Yadav alias Vimal Ji, was arrested during a joint operation conducted by local police and personnel of the 29th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
Bodhi Bigha station house officer Priyanand Alok said the arrest was made following specific intelligence inputs.
Accused was living in Aurangabad district
According to police, the accused is a resident of Jamunia village under Madanpur police station limits in Aurangabad district. He is the son of the late Musafir Yadav and was reportedly living in Anjan village at the time of the arrest.
Officials said the operation was carried out under the direction of Gaya senior superintendent of police Sushil Kumar and supervised by Imamganj DSP Kamlesh Kumar.
Charges linked to 2007 case
Police said the accused was named in Bodhi Bigha police station case number 45/07 and had been absconding for several years.
Further questioning underway
Police said the accused was apprehended from his residence during a planned raid conducted jointly by the police and SSB teams
