‘Get Paid To Make Childless Women Pregnant’: Bizarre Cyber Fraud Racket Busted In Bihar

Nawada/Patna: A special investigation team (SIT) of the Cyber Police in Bihar’s Nawada district has uncovered a gang of cyber criminals accused of duping people across multiple states out of lakhs of rupees through elaborate online scams — including fake fertility services and bogus work-from-home job offers.

The SIT, acting on mobile number data sourced from the Home Ministry portal, combined technical surveillance with human intelligence to track down the gang. On Saturday, the team raided a wasteland in Kunj village under Roh police station and arrested four members of the gang. Several others, including the alleged kingpin, managed to flee the scene.

Among the four arrested is 26-year-old Rajesh Kumar, son of Sanjay Singh of Kunj village. The other three accused are minors and have been detained. Police said one of the detained is the son of an army jawan. The raid, which led to the recovery of five mobile phones and a keypad device, was led by Senior DSP Priya Jyoti of the Cyber Police.

According to investigators, the gang operated a bogus enterprise under the name All India Pregnant Job, advertising on social media to attract desperate couples struggling with infertility. Videos recovered from the gang’s devices showed an advertisement featuring a woman luring clients with the promise of a Rs five lakh payout for assisting childless women to conceive. Victims were asked to pay registration and other associated fees, only to be swindled once they were trapped in the scheme.

In a parallel scam, the gang targeted job seekers — including students, housewives and young professionals — with fake offers from a reputed telecom company. Ads promised earnings of Rs 22,500 to Rs 75,500 per month for part-time or full-time messaging and calling jobs, alongside free laptops and mobile phones. These offers were circulated widely on social media and even through newspaper advertisements. Victims, once ensnared, were systematically cheated out of large sums.

Following the arrests, SIT officers said the gang’s kingpin had been orchestrating the entire operation — from posting advertisements to supplying mobile numbers of prospective victims. Evidence recovered from the seized devices is currently under forensic examination.

The operation was conducted by a team that included Cyber Police Sub-Inspector Rupesh Kumar, Constables Krishna Kumar, Vikesh Kumar, Chunchun Kumar, Nitish Kumar, Lady Constable Rupam Kumari and Driver Constable Subhash Kumar. Eight people, including the absconding kingpin, have been named in the case.

During interrogation, the arrested suspects confessed to running the scams under the instructions of the gang leader. A case (Cyber Thana Case No. 85/25) has been registered under charges of fraud and violations of the Information Technology Act.

Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend the kingpin and dismantle the entire cyber crime network.
