Gold and silver prices declined over the past five trading days, with silver recording a sharper fall in the domestic bullion market. According to data from the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), silver became Rs 6,536 cheaper per kg, while 24-carat gold fell Rs 2,946 per 10 grams during the period.
By the end of the week, domestic silver was priced at Rs 2,28,920 per kg, while 10 grams of 24-carat gold stood at Rs 1,51,938.
Silver Falls Rs 6,536 In Five Days
IBJA data shows that silver had closed at Rs 2,35,456 per kg on September 4. Over the next five trading days, its price declined to Rs 2,28,920 per kg.
This represents a fall of Rs 6,536 per kg in the domestic market.
The decline came alongside weakness in silver futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), indicating continued pressure on the precious metal.
Gold Drops Rs 2,946 Per 10 Grams
Gold also became cheaper during the same five-day period.
The price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold declined from Rs 1,54,884 on September 4 to Rs 1,51,938, according to IBJA data.
This means 24-carat gold fell by Rs 2,946 per 10 grams in five trading sessions.
The decline was also visible across other gold purities. The reported rates were Rs 1,48,290 per 10 grams for 22-carat gold, Rs 1,35,230 for 20-carat gold, Rs 1,23,070 for 18-carat gold and Rs 98,000 for 14-carat gold.
MCX Silver Also Records A Fall
Silver prices also declined in futures trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).
The December silver contract had closed at Rs 2,37,658 per kg on September 4. By the final trading session of the week, it had fallen to Rs 2,34,886 per kg.
The five-day decline in MCX silver stood at Rs 2,772 per kg.
Silver Now Rs 1.85 Lakh Below Its High
The latest fall has further widened the gap between the current MCX silver price and its lifetime high.
Silver futures had reached Rs 4,20,048 per kg in January 2026. At the latest price of Rs 2,34,886 per kg, silver is now Rs 1,85,162 per kg below that peak.
Silver has also declined during September. It is down Rs 5,235 per kg so far this month, according to the reported MCX figures.
MCX Gold Also Slips
Gold futures recorded a smaller decline compared with silver.
The MCX gold price fell from Rs 1,52,767 to Rs 1,52,655 per 10 grams over the five trading days, a decline of Rs 112.
Since the beginning of September, MCX gold has fallen from its August 31 closing price of Rs 1,54,460 per 10 grams to Rs 1,52,655, marking a decline of Rs 1,805 per 10 grams.
The latest figures show that both precious metals have weakened, although silver has seen a substantially sharper decline than gold in recent trading.
