Gopalganj/Patna: Police have launched a new initiative to ensure the safety of passengers arriving at bus stands and railway stations late at night, with special police buses now being deployed to take them safely to their homes.
Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari flagged off the service from Mauniya Chowk on Friday.
The buses will collect passengers arriving late at Rajendra Bus Stand, Gopalganj Railway Station, Thawe Railway Station and Mirganj Bus Stand. Police personnel will accompany passengers on the buses to ensure their safety during the journey home.
Focus On Late-Night Passenger Safety
According to police officials, the initiative aims to address the insecurity and inconvenience faced by passengers travelling home from bus stands and railway stations at night.
The service will provide particular support to passengers arriving late at night, with additional emphasis during the cold season.
Night Patrolling Strengthened
Alongside the passenger bus service, the police have strengthened night patrolling across the city to prevent crime during the winter.
Patrolling teams will monitor shops and key areas throughout the night and respond immediately to suspicious activity or individuals.
The night-patrolling teams were also flagged off by SP Vinay Tiwari from Mauniya Chowk.
Six Bike Patrol Teams Deployed
The police have also launched six bike patrolling teams to strengthen surveillance across the city.
SP Tiwari flagged off the bike patrol personnel, who will conduct regular patrols on major roads, intersections and crowded areas from morning until night.
According to the police, the bike patrols will improve surveillance and enable personnel to reach locations quickly during emergencies.
The expanded patrolling network, combined with the late-night passenger bus service, is aimed at improving passenger safety and preventing incidents such as theft, snatching and other criminal activities.
