BHAGALPUR – The inauguration of the Inter-College Sports and Cultural Competition 2023 marked the lighting of the torch by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor, Dr. D.R. Singh, at the premises of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour. The opening ceremony, accompanied by a march-past, set the tone for the four-day event.
Following the torch relay, Dr. Fiza Ahmad, Director of Student Welfare, welcomed participants and extended best wishes for the upcoming sports and cultural competitions. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of sports in holistic development, urging students to participate with dedication. He acknowledged the contributions of Bihar’s great athletes and encouraged participants to draw inspiration from them.
Organized by the Directorate of Student Welfare, the competition witnessed the participation of nine colleges affiliated with the university. A total of 482 students competed in events such as running, badminton, volleyball, kabaddi, cultural performances, and more. The Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that the university’s name would shine nationally through the participants’ achievements.
The first day featured long jump, javelin throw, badminton, and league matches in various sports. The cultural events included modeling, cartooning, collage, skit, one-act play, dance, and music competitions. The closing ceremony will honor the best male and female athletes, as well as the champion college based on the overall performance in the competitions.
