Patna: A routine commute turned chaotic in Patna on Saturday evening when gunfire erupted near Hartali Mor just as Additional Director General (ADG) of the Special Task Force (STF), Pankaj Darad, was passing through the area. The officer’s security personnel responded swiftly, reportedly returning fire, prompting the unidentified assailants to flee.
According to initial reports, a Scorpio SUV—lacking a number plate—collided with a Bolero vehicle between Boring Road and Mohani Chauraha. An altercation between the two drivers quickly escalated, culminating in one of the occupants of the Scorpio drawing a pistol and firing multiple rounds in a public area.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as the sound of gunfire rang out. The ADG’s bodyguard, present at the scene, engaged in return fire, effectively deterring further violence. No casualties have been reported.
Senior Patna Police officials were promptly informed, and a police team was dispatched to secure the area and begin an investigation. As of now, the perpetrators remain unidentified and at large.
