Guru Rehman barred from Gardanibagh protest site Till January 3 as BPSC candidates demand meeting with CM Nitish Kumar
Patna: Popular coaching teacher Guru Rehman appeared at Gardanibagh police station on Saturday in response to a notice from Patna Police. Speaking after the visit, Rehman said, “This was part of a legal process. I have responded to the police notice and have been asked to appear again on January 3. Until then, I have been prohibited from visiting the Gardanibagh protest site under any circumstances.”
Meanwhile, BPSC candidates protesting at Gardanibagh reiterated their demand to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Sadar SDM Gaurav Kumar visited the site on Saturday morning and suggested that the candidates meet the secretary of the Bihar Public Service Commission instead.
However, the candidates firmly rejected the proposal, stating, “What will we achieve by meeting an official of the institution we are accusing? We only have hope from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and we will meet him alone.”
Despite spending half an hour trying to persuade the candidates, SDM Gaurav Kumar left the protest site after failing to reach a resolution. Speaking to the media, the SDM said, “The candidates have been given half an hour to decide. The district administration is prepared to arrange a meeting with the BPSC secretary, but the final decision is up to them.”
The protests, fuelled by allegations of irregularities in the 70th BPSC preliminary examination, have shown no signs of abating as candidates remain steadfast in their demand for direct intervention from the Chief Minister.
