Patna: A shift in Bihar’s weather has been observed due to moist air, bringing partial relief from the ongoing heat. On Sunday, Patna and its surrounding areas experienced partly cloudy skies accompanied by light drizzle. Several districts across the state received rainfall and gusty winds, providing much-needed respite to residents.
According to the Meteorological Centre Patna, the next 24 hours are expected to see partly cloudy conditions across most southern parts of Bihar, including Patna. Scattered rain showers and lightning are likely in some areas.
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Kishanganj, Katihar, and Purnia districts. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been announced for strong winds blowing at speeds of 30-40 km/h in West and East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, and Madhubani. In the eastern parts of the state, wind speeds could intensify further, reaching 50-60 km/h.
Thunderstorm warnings remain in effect for most parts of Bihar over the next four days, as officials urge caution.
During the last 24 hours, rainfall was recorded at multiple locations including Gaya, Aurangabad, Jamui, Kishanganj, Purnia, West Champaran, Araria, and Banka. The highest rainfall of 48.8 mm was recorded in Dobhi, Gaya district.
On Sunday, Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 33.9°C, while Dehri saw the highest maximum temperature at 40.0°C.
Rainfall recorded at selected locations includes Madanpur in Aurangabad and Bausi in Banka with 25.2 mm each, Katoria 18.6 mm, Mohanpur in Gaya 18.2 mm, Chakai in Jamui 12.8 mm, Dighalbank in Kishanganj 12.4 mm, Baisa in Purnia 8.6 mm, Bahadurganj in Kishanganj 7.4 mm, Banka 6.8 mm, and Aams in Gaya 5.8 mm.
Temperature-wise, Patna’s maximum and minimum were 32.0°C and 25.1°C respectively. Gaya recorded a high of 38.7°C and low of 26.5°C. Bhagalpur had a maximum of 34.2°C and minimum of 24.0°C, while Muzaffarpur recorded 30.4°C as the maximum and 25.1°C as the minimum.
