New Delhi: HSCC India, a fully owned subsidiary of the public sector construction giant NBCC (India), has been officially designated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as the executing agency for the construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga, Bihar.
“This landmark project represents one of the largest healthcare initiatives currently in progress across the nation,” HSCC India stated in a press release, highlighting the estimated value of the project at approximately ₹1,261 crore.
The AIIMS Darbhanga facility aims to deliver high-quality medical education and comprehensive tertiary care services to a large population at minimal cost. The complex will include a tertiary care hospital, a medical college, an AYUSH hospital, and accommodation for both students and staff, along with various essential facilities.
Spanning around 188 acres, the project will encompass over 2.25 lakh square meters of construction area. With an expected completion timeline of 36 months, AIIMS Darbhanga is set to significantly improve healthcare accessibility and educational opportunities in the region.
“AIIMS Darbhanga is part of the Indian government’s broader initiative to establish a network of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences across the country, which aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality,” the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare emphasized in their announcement.
Initially unveiled in 2019, AIIMS Darbhanga is envisioned to be a premier medical institution in Bihar. The establishment of this institute is anticipated to lead to improved healthcare outcomes for the local population and to support the development of medical professionals in the area.
“HSCC has a proven history of successfully executing healthcare projects across India, and the establishment of AIIMS in Darbhanga marks another significant milestone in our journey,” the company remarked.
HSCC has previously undertaken several high-profile medical projects, including AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Kalyani, AIIMS New Delhi, and AIIMS Raebareli, establishing its reputation as a leader in healthcare infrastructure development.
