Patna: Residents of Bihar should brace for a continued spell of humid and sticky heat, with the Meteorological Department indicating that relief is unlikely until the last week of July. Monday saw similar conditions across the state, with intense sun leading to deserted markets and streets in the afternoon. While clouds offered fleeting hope in many areas, significant rainfall did not materialize.
According to meteorologists, the movement of the monsoon remains sluggish, particularly in North Bihar. Although light showers might occur in some limited areas, providing temporary respite, a widespread and active monsoon is not expected until the first week of August for the entire North Bihar region.
Temperatures Above Normal
The latest report from the Meteorological Center Patna highlights the prevailing conditions. On Monday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.3 degrees Celsius, which is 2.6 degrees above the normal for this time of year. The minimum temperature stood at 26.4 degrees Celsius, a marginal 0.2 degrees below normal.
August Holds Hope for Relief
The weather department has explicitly stated that similar conditions are expected to persist for the next few days. Hopes for substantial, field-quenching rain are now largely pinned on the month of August.
Until then, authorities and experts advise residents to exercise caution: minimize exposure to the sun, ensure adequate hydration by drinking plenty of water, and prioritize overall health to cope with the challenging weather.
