Hyundai and Ford Service Centres in Patna Devastated by Early Morning Fire
Patna: A major fire erupted at a car service centre in Patna on Thursday morning, causing extensive damage to both the Hyundai and Advik Ford service centres located on Danapur-Khagaul Road. The blaze, which began at the Hyundai service centre around 8 a.m., rapidly spread to the adjacent Ford service centre, creating a large plume of smoke visible from a distance.
Reports indicate that approximately 50 vehicles, both new and old, were destroyed in the fire. While the official cost of the damage has yet to be confirmed, preliminary estimates suggest a significant financial loss, potentially running into crores.
Upon receiving reports of the fire, 12 fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. After approximately two hours of intense firefighting efforts, a total of 35 fire brigade vehicles managed to bring the blaze under control.
District Fire Officer Manoj Kumar Nat commented on the situation, saying, “The incident could have been much worse given the large number of vehicles at both service centres. Thankfully, our prompt response helped control the fire before it could spread further.”
The owner of the Hyundai service centre reported that around 50 vehicles were burnt, including both new and old models, and that 7-8 Ford cars parked outside the centre were also destroyed. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
Fire Officer Mrityunjay Kumar Chaudhary stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the fire and whether proper permissions were in place for the storage of the vehicles. “We received information about the fire affecting both garages. Our teams have managed to control the situation, and we are now investigating the extent of the damage and the circumstances leading to the fire,” he said.
In response to the emergency, the 40th battalion of the SSB was the first to arrive at the scene. They alerted the fire brigade and assisted in evacuating residents from nearby houses to ensure their safety.
