IAS Probationary Officers Undergo Training in Bihar’s Food and Consumer Protection Department

Patna: Ten probationary officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) 2023 batch underwent training on Thursday at Bihar’s Food and Consumer Protection Department, gaining insights into key schemes, programs, and operational mechanisms.
During the session, Principal Secretary Dr N Sarwan Kumar provided a comprehensive overview of the department’s initiatives, highlighting the implementation of the PDS Parakh mobile application. He explained that the app allows officers to conduct real-time inspections of fair price shops and upload reports instantly, improving the transparency and efficiency of Bihar’s public distribution system.
Special Officer Srishti Priya briefed the probationers on the department’s structural framework, covering areas such as food grain procurement, ration card issuance, e-KYC processes, and the role of the Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (BSFC).
As part of their training, the officers visited the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) warehouse of the BSFC in Phulwarisharif, Patna, to understand its operational processes.
The training session was attended by senior officials, including Special Secretary Md Nayyar Iqbal, Joint Secretary Ravindra Kumar, Special Officers Binod Kumar Tiwari and Srishti Priya, and BSFC General Managers Amresh Kumar Amar and Mrityunjay Kumar.
