Patna: In a dedicated endeavor to foster awareness about health and hygiene fundamentals, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya has launched a transformative initiative in Turi Khurd, a village that the institute has adopted. On November 26, 17 students from IIM Bodh Gaya’s CSR Committee – Pragati, under the guidance of esteemed faculty Dr. Johnson Abhishek Minz and Dr. Mohammed Ashiq, took a leading role in prioritizing individual health as they made a significant contribution to the initiative.
Central to this impactful program was the ‘Happy Periods’ initiative, where students actively engaged with village women and girls, imparting crucial knowledge about basic intimate hygiene. Beyond awareness, the students distributed free sanitary pads, addressing a pressing need that persists among many underprivileged women in the village. This vital awareness campaign underscores a comprehensive mission, showcasing IIM Bodh Gaya’s commitment to the well-being of the communities it embraces.
In collaboration with the Tzu-Chi Foundation, IIM Bodh Gaya extended its efforts with a health screening initiative. Foundation members, along with student volunteers, conducted door-to-door health checks for village residents. This ambitious undertaking involved health surveys for over 100 families, providing invaluable experience to the students and shaping future initiatives by the CSR Committee.
Under the leadership of Dr. Minz and Dr. Ashiq, the dynamic student team successfully organized and executed the initiative, leaving a meaningful impact on society.
