Patna: Students from Classes 9 to 12 studying in government schools across Bihar will soon receive free coaching for competitive examinations like JEE and NEET from experts of IIT Kanpur. Along with students, science and mathematics teachers will also undergo specialised training to improve classroom teaching and exam-oriented preparation.
The Directorate of Secondary Education has asked all districts to submit detailed information of eligible students and teachers. The initiative will be implemented through the Ministry of Education’s ‘SATHEE’ (Self Assessment, Test and Help for Entrance Exams) portal, under which students will be provided free digital coaching for national-level entrance examinations.
For this purpose, the SATHEE team has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Kanpur. Under the agreement, IIT faculty and academic experts will guide students for JEE, NEET and other competitive exams, while also training subject teachers in science and mathematics.
Based on instructions from the state headquarters, District Programme Officers (Secondary Education) have been directed to collect data from all secondary and higher secondary schools. In Muzaffarpur, DPO Alka Sahay has issued letters to principals of all government schools seeking detailed reports.
Schools have been asked to submit student information in a prescribed format including name, father’s name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, gender, district, city, category, school name, class and U-DISE code. Details of teachers must include name, email, mobile number, district, school, U-DISE code, subject taught, teaching experience and educational qualification.
The SATHEE portal, launched by the Ministry of Education, is a free digital learning platform designed to support students preparing for JEE, NEET, CUET and other major entrance examinations. It offers over 10,000 video lectures, more than 90,000 practice questions, AI-based doubt resolution, mock tests, expert sessions and live interactive classes.
Officials said the programme aims to bridge the gap between government school students and competitive exam preparation by providing them access to high-quality academic resources and expert guidance at no cost.
